How the Service Works
To make a referral to an Arbitrator or Mediator the LRS Clerk must have the information for both parties.
When you call, the LRS clerk will ask what county you are calling from and where you'd like to see an attorney. The LRS clerk will have you state your legal matter briefly (any information you provide will be held in the strictest confidence). The LRS Clerk will also need your name, address and telephone number and the name of the lawyer who is representing you in the matter. The LRS Clerk will also need the name, address and the telephone number of opposing party and the name of their legal counsel.
The LRS Clerk will then contact the second party and explain that they have received information from you the caller that you have requested the name of an Arbitrator or Mediator. The LRS Clerk will then ask the second party if they agree to an Arbitrator or Mediator and if agreed they will then make the referral. To make a referral both parties must agree to the Arbitrator or Mediator. The LRS Clerk will then give both parties the information and ask them to contact the attorney
You can submit your request electronically by clicking on the LRS link below, selecting a county and submitting the form that is provided.
The Lawyer Referral Service is designed to serve people who can afford the services of an attorney. Those who have legal problems and cannot afford a lawyer should contact the Legal Aid Office in their community.
