The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) is a non-profit, professional voluntary member organization. KCMBA is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information you provide to us. This Privacy Policy describes what personal information KCMBA collects from members and non – members, how we collect it, and what we do with it.  This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time by means of notice provided through posting on the KCMBA website at www.kcmba.org.

Bar Directory

As a service to members, the annual Directory of the Greater Kansas City Legal Community is published including both member and non-member contact information. Because some attorneys within the greater Kansas City area have elected to opt-out of inclusion in the directory, the fact that a particular attorney is NOT listed in the directory does not mean that they are not a practicing attorney. The Directory is a compilation work protected by U.S. and international copyright laws and other applicable laws, and is owned solely by KCMBA.

The Directory is compiled from records maintained in the KCMBA database. Each year, a Bar Directory update form is sent to each attorney in the database with a request to return the form if a correction is necessary. By completing this form, the attorney acknowledges that the information will be used to compile the Directory and will also be used as a list of members and potential members for purposes of advising of and soliciting participation in Association activities. Any attorney who does not wish to receive these notices (email, facsimile, or mail) has the right to OPT-OUT by submitting a request, in writing, to the KCMBA.

In addition, requests are made to area firms and organizations to update the roster of attorney employees within that organization. Once the information is collected, the individual attorney will be provided an opportunity to review and revise this information during the next cycle of individual record updates. However, individuals are encouraged to review and revise their individual records at any time using the KCMBA website.

Types of Information KCMBA Collects and How We Use It

KCMBA collects the following information from members and potential members: name, postal address, telephone and fax numbers, email address, date of admission to the bar, areas of practice, firm or organization name, and title. In addition, race, gender and other personal data are collected if provided by the attorney. Non-attorney visitors to the website are not asked to provide any personal information.

KCMBA collects this information so that it may: (1) keep membership records up to date; (2) publish that information in the KCMBA Bar Directory; (3) provide information about KCMBA programs, activities, products and services; and (4) solicit membership and participation in KCMBA activities from non- members.

KCMBA has strict rules about the sale or rental of its membership and database list. KCMBA does not sell or rent any names or addresses to anyone.
